TYP Cancelled

Apologies but the next 10 Year plan scheduled for July 30th 2010 has been cancelled. The next one will take place in either September or October and I will post details nearer the time!

The next Ten Year Plan takes place on the 30th July 2010. It will cover the period 1985 to 1994 and that gives us plenty of scope to play tracks that shaped C86, from the scene with no name, baggy, grunge, brit pop and a bit of rave culture!

Our guest dj’s are Jen from Colour Me Pop and Emma and Ian from London indiepop band Pocketbooks. The fun starts at 8pm (until 1am) and as usual it’s free entry.

The Facebook event page is here.

Hope to see you there!

Playlists 07/05/2010

You can find the last Friday’s play-lists complete with a spotify link here.

I am delighted to say that Matt from Bristol’s Big Pink Cake club will be spinning some tunes ranging from post punk to pre C86 at our relaunch night. Matt is a very fine dj indeed and has recently appeared at the the likes of Scared To Dance to great acclaim!

The Ten Year Plan relaunches on Friday 7th May 2010.

We will be playing the best music between 1976 and 1985 because the best music was created during those years. Or was it? Help us decide!

Regular dj’s plus our guest dj who will be Rocker of Subway legends The Flatmates, The Rosehips and now Dandelion Radio.

Starts at 8pm (until 1am) – free entry!

Any requests? Send them to info AT tenyearplan DOT net or list them below.

Flyers

Here are the flyers of the previous nights for those who like that sort of thing! Sadly I am missing the last one from December 2007.

The Ten Year Plan

Well after a hiatus of a couple of years the Ten Year Plan night is back. Originally created by Chimes (he of The Penelope Tree) in 2007 the quarterly night ran for a year before being placed on hold. One of the regular dj’s was Tom (indie-mp3) who after being involved in other club nights such as The Soup Kitchen and Scared To Dance decided to resurrect the phoenix from the flames. The relaunch night will be held on Friday 7th May 2010. More details soon.

So what can you expect of The Ten Year Plan? This lovely review was written about the first night back in February 2007. It still rings true today.

This was simply genius.

I’ve never seen so many people smiling on a dancefloor before

Lets look at the facts:-

Wildly enthusiastic group of participants, at least 3 djs on a rotation system to keep it up-vibe, beer, two bequiffed Morrissey fans who, by God, had made an effort and even a tall man with a luxuriant moustache. Its a heady mix.

And the music. And the music. And the music. Here are my highlights:-

Fire in Cairo, Part Time Punks, Party Fears Two, Promises, Top of the Pops, Police and Thieves, Holidays in the Sun, Candyskin, Living on the Ceiling, Jilted John, She’s Lost Control, Jumping Someone Else’s Train, Once More and plenty plenty more.

Don’t get me wrong I love new bands and new music, but sometimes, just sometimes, its wonderful to frug back through memory lane and marvel at a musical paean to your teenage self.

Heartfelt thanks to Mr Chimes and all the others who made this possible.
